Alvin was saved from euthanasia and taken into foster care down south by some of our amazing rescue friends who asked if NELR could help place him. Alvin is a super happy, loving pup that and we are so glad that he has this second chance to brighten some lucky adopter’s life! He was found to be heartworm positive when he was getting his routine vetting, so he spent some extra time at a southern foster’s home going through HW treatment. He was a lovely houseguest but is all done, feeling great, and ready to find his happily ever after in New Hampshire or Vermont (*due to certain state regulations regarding transport of recently HW+ animals). Alvin seemed to exhibited lameness when getting off his very long transport to New England a few weeks ago. Dogs travel in safety crates and are let out many times a day, but it can cause a bit of stiffness or lameness upon arrival. We brought him to the vet and they examined him, did X-rays, and put him on some pain meds and anti-inflammatories for about a week. We kept him under high observation and had him and re-examined at the vet office after 10 days. His lameness entirely cleared up right away, and he showed no signs of pain, and the vet cleared him for adoption. We have monitored him for several weeks in a wonderful foster home, and as you can see by the pictures, and he is thriving with no issues! Dry skin he’d had at the shelter has also cleared up since being on wonderful nutritious food and his skin is clear and lovely. He is doing great, and he will continue to take glucosamine, a common supplement that many dogs are given to keep muscles and joints strong and healthy for years to come :) He's an active, fun-loving pup that would have a great time adventuring and exploring with you! He loves fetch, playtime, and being a goof with other dogs. He’s friendly and loves all people, and is good around equines, too! He loves fun opportunities to enjoy life, hiking, playing fetch (a must!), and would love to bond with his people over positive reinforcement training to have great communication for adventures together. He’s a great copilot for fun, but also enjoys some cuddle and relaxation time with his besties at the end of the day. He’s a loving boy that will be so thrilled to be a beloved member of your family!

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
