Athena was rescued with her brother, Zeus, and one of our amazing southern foster friends has been taking care of them. It’s hard to find homes for the overwhelming amount of dogs down south right now, so NELR is helping these two sweeties find loving forever families up north in the land of pampered fur-babies! Athena is easy-going, sweet, and loving, enjoying all the time she can around the nice people she’s met since rescue. She gets along great with other dogs and likes cats (however she’s a playful puppy, so the cats need to be comfortable with that). We think she’d enjoy a home with another dog around to play with and learn from. She’s pretty chill and gentle, but she’s working on not celebrating by jumping, so older kiddos would be best for now, although she does respond well to the cue to sit as a redirection while jumping. She’s good on leash and loves play and snuggle time with the humans or dogs. She’s a social girl and would love a home where she can be around her family more often than not to soak up all the love. She’s a total cuddle bug and will have her humans feeling like the best thing since sliced bread! Her southern foster says, “she is a great dog and any family will be lucky to have her!”

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.
We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.
We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
