Shylo is one of those rescue stories that reminds us of how important this mission is. Shylo is the sweetest boy with the purest of souls, but he sadly started his life living in a 3x3-foot wire cage for years - locked in without breaks to relieve himself or exercise. He had never been pet, felt grass under his paws, or played with dog friends…
Despite all he’s been through, Shylo is as sweet as can be without a mean bone in his body - because dogs are amazing like that! He loves other dogs and is ok with cats (maybe a little scared of them), but is still very shy with humans. He will need a very patient, calm, understanding home; one that recognizes the beautiful, gentle heart that beats inside this skittish pup. He’s very shy and afraid of a lot of things but is so polite even without formal training. He walks well on leash but is nervous about getting it put on, so a well-fenced yard might be an amazing way to bond and let him explore as he builds confidence in his surroundings.
Besides very patient, gentle humans, he will need at least one friendly dog sibling in his forever home - he loves getting to play and curl up with other dogs and we want to be sure he doesn’t miss out on a single thing ever again! He’s been good with the respectful teens in his foster home, but we assume younger kiddos would be way too chaotic and loud for him to feel confident around. Despite being extremely shy of humans (understandable!), he does WANT to be with them, getting patted and curling up on the couch for a cuddle, but he also needs to be able to take some space and retreat to a “safe place” like his open crate sometimes, so his family will need to understand he’s doing his best and it doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy them, he’s simply adjusting. He received no socialization early on and we can’t imagine a person that would keep him like that was particularly nice, so he’s making sure it’s safe and this good stuff will last.
His foster says, “He’s beyond sweet and has absolutely no aggression in him. He really wants to be with people and often follows me everywhere, but still shies away if I reach out to pat him. I can tell that Shylo really wants to get there and share his sweetness and love with someone who will be patient.”
He will need time, but his love will be worth it!

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.
We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.
We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
