Tex was on the euthanasia list at an overfull southern shelter but thankfully the rescue network reached out and NELR is happy to help find him a loving forever home up here in New England. Once Tex got into a New England foster home, it was discovered that he needed a little extra vetting to help him feel his best. After that, Tex just needed some time to relax and get used to this new, amazing (but different!) path in his life, so we gave him some extra time at a foster’s wonderful farm where he got to relax, be a carefree dog, and learn a lot of basic cues, like sit, wait, down, paw, and has been working on loose leash walking as well as recall! Tex is a very smart, potty & crate trained, friendly, playful pup. He’s been enjoying the stimulation of positive reinforcement training mixed in with time for sniffing and a few goofy zoomies. He’d be a great dog for someone that wants a buddy they can stretch their legs and communicate with, then share a snuggle. He has a super handsome, stoic face, but inside he’s a silly pup! He’s a little selective about dogs (we are with humans, we get it!), but seems to prefer playful, easy-going females at playtime. Like many rescued dogs, he prefers to eat alone to know he is safe, and we think he’d really enjoy being the only dog in the home so he can feel all the love, trust, and protection that he missed while waiting for rescue. He’d also be delighted by having his own toys to play with! He’s been loving the attention of all the kids he’s met at the farm. He’s a sweet, sensitive but silly boy that has tons of love to share with some lucky human(s).

All of our available adoptable dogs are on Facebook, Petfinder, and our website. If a dog is no longer listed it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
