Handsome Legolas (yes, named after the elf 😁 ). Our rescue friends down south contacted NELR about a very special boy, and we are so happy we could help him along his rescue journey! Legolas was somehow born without a back foot on his left, hind leg. He’s a happy, loving little guy but a vet feels he would really benefit and thrive with a prosthetic foot that will help him walk, run, play, chase balls, and keep up with his friends more comfortably. A wonderful donor came forward to help with a custom-made prosthetic, which has been sized, ordered, and is on its way! A true village of amazing people came together to help this sweet boy, who normally would have a very difficult chance of getting adopted out of a consistently overfull southern shelter (and subsequently would’ve ended up on the euthanasia list). 

 

From the skinny condition he was found in, we don’t think he had a very pleasant start in life, but you’d never know it from his delightful personality. He’s friendly, great with other dogs and kids, and is excited to make up for lost time with any bit of happiness and love he can share with you. Legolas has been living it up in a New England foster home while he went through all of his prosthetic set-up appointments, but now he’s ready to go to a loving forever home. He's learned lots of good boy skills, like potty & crate training, leash walking, and riding well in a car. He’s also loves toys and water, and likes being brushed. He adores people and really wants to be part of the family, so he'd prefer a full house of family that is around more often than not. He'd love to have a dog sibling or neighboring pup to play with, and he loves having kids around to run and play fetch with. He will need a little help getting used to his new foot, but we think the love and stability of a forever home will be an excellent place to bond over his newly enhanced mobility – more playtime, adventures, and memory-making together!
