Lemon is the wonderful mother of our recent Valentine litter of puppies (Cupid, Esme, Hart, Romeo, Amias, & Venus - all adopted). Sadly, sweet Lemon was struck by a car over the winter and her owner did not get her the appropriate veterinary care, so Lemon lived with a severely broken rear leg for months. Once our southern rescue friends stepped in to help Lemon and her litter, she was immediately seen for her leg and it was confirmed that her femur was fractured, she’d been living in constant pain, and the best solution after all that time was amputation. In true Lab fashion, Lemon has been nothing but loving and sweet during all of this, making friends and trusting humans despite the exhaustion and pain she must’ve felt. The amputation surgery went well and she was spayed so she can be the pampered baby now. She’s been healing well and got back to playing as soon as she was able! Sometimes things like a big set of stairs can be tough for her at the end of the day while she builds extra strength to compensate, but her spirit and lust for life and joy are always at a high. 

 

Lemon has done great in foster care and turns life everything into sweet lemonade! She is potty & crate trained, good in the house, and gets along with everyone. She’s good at making friends with other dogs, ignores cats, and is sweet with kids. Lemon LOVES to play fetch, it’s her absolute favorite – and she’s great at actually bringing the back to you! She likes other toys as well and enjoys getting playtime with dog and human friends. She’s also good on walks and enjoys a car ride. Lemon just wants to live a happy family life and we can’t wait to make that happen!

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
