Shrek and Fiona are both two-and-a-half years old, and come to New England Lab Rescue with a very interesting story. They were born in a train station in Mexico and have lived there their entire lives there until a rescue affiliate (that had been feeding them) took them home in order to give them a chance at a much better life. NELR was happy to lend a paw and help find them an amazing home up here in New England! They are both potty trained but have not been exposed to a crate, although they are trustworthy when left out in the house. Both are working on leash training, which is a totally new concept to them, but it’s coming along nicely with Shrek doing well and Fiona pulling a bit to find sniffs. On that note, both love using their noses to explore and would be so happy with a fenced yard and/or a family that enjoys walking/hiking with them.

Both are very easy-going overall, but Shrek especially adores attention and being loved on. They weren’t exposed to many other dogs while living in the train station, but haven’t been upset by other dog noises and smells at their foster home’s kennels down south, or at the vet. They interacted with children while at the train station and did well with them. Fiona is more of a leader who Shrek looks to for comfort and confidence. Shrek is hesitant with vehicles, and is working on positive associations with them. Since they’ve never had toys in their life, they will need some time to realize how much fun they are - that will lead to some great experimenting to bond over with your new fur-babies! It’s going to be so fun to expose them to the comforts and pampering that beloved pets deserve ❤️

What’s better than one dog?? TWO! Fill out an adoption application today!

All of our available adoptable dogs are on our website. If a dog is no longer listed on the Adoptable Dogs page, it means they have an adoption pending.

We are a nonprofit organization - all adoption fees go towards the rescue, veterinary care, and transportation of these dogs in order to get them ready for their forever homes.

We are a shelterless rescue. All of our dogs are housed in foster homes to help them de-stress and get used to a home environment while they await adoption, giving us the opportunity to understand their personalities and needs.
